Time is love

天長地久

For over a century, Solvil et Titus has crafted timepieces that carry more than time. They carry stories. They carry promises. They carry love.

The Beginning · 1887

Born in the mountains.
Built for precision.

Solvil et Titus was founded in 1887 by Paul Bernard Ditisheim — born in 1868 into an influential circle of industrialist families leading the Swiss watch industry. The name itself carries geography and history: "Solvil" refers to the village of Sonvilier on the Swiss side of the Jura Mountains, where a factory produced meticulously crafted watch components, while "Titus" pays tribute to the Roman emperor of the first century AD.

Ditisheim graduated with a diploma in watchmaking from École d'arts appliqués La Chaux-de-Fonds at the age of 13. After furthering his training at various major watchmakers, he achieved his own technological breakthroughs — countering the effects of atmospheric pressure and magnetic fields on timekeeping, feats that would define the modern science of chronometry.

"The name Solvil et Titus carries both geography and history — from the mountains of Switzerland to the grandeur of Rome."

Ditisheim shot to fame by winning precision trials against other watchmakers across Europe, culminating in his crowning achievement: winning the world's chronometric record at the Royal Kew Observatory in London in 1912 — a record that announced Solvil et Titus to the world.
